eowyns ‘i am no man/you look upon a woman’ moment is great iconic and all that, but how fucking funny would it have been if shed just killed wk without bothering to bring up the loophole she was about to exploit and just let him die all confused about wtf just happened
Never thought that BabyNames.com would make me cry like this.
Say their names!
[id: Screenshot of babynames.com that reads: “Each of these names was somebody’s baby: Emmett Till - Eric Garner -john Crawford III - Michael Brown - Ezell Ford - Dante Parker - Michelle Cusseaux - Laquan Mcdonald - Tanisha Anderson - Akai Gurley - Tamir Rice - Rumain Brisbon - Jerame Reid - George Mann - Matthew Ajibade - Frank Smart - Natasha Mckenna - Tony Robinson - Anthony Hill - Mya Hall - Phillip White - Eric Harris - Walter Scott - William Chapman II - Alexia Christian - Brendon Glenn - Victor Manuel Larosa - Jonathan Sanders - Freddie Blue -joseph Mann - Salvado Ellswood - Sandra Bland - Albert Joseph Davis - Darrius Stewart - Billy Ray Davis - Samuel Dubose - Michael Sabbie - Brian Keith Day - Christian Taylor - Troy Robinson - Asshams Pharoah Manley - Felix Kumi - Keith Harrison Mcleod - Junior Prosper - Lamontez Jones - Paterson Brown - Dominic Hutchinson - Anthony Ashford - Alonzo Smith- Tyree Crawford - India Kager - La'Vante Biggs - Michael Lee Marshall - Jamar Clark - Richard Perkins - Nathaniel Harris Pickett - Benni Lee Tignor - Miguel Espinal - Michael Noel - Kevin Matthews - Bettie Jones - Quintonio Legrier - Keith Childress Jr. - Janet Wilson - Randy Nelson - Antronie Scott - Wendell Celestine - David Joseph - Calin Roquemore - Dyzhawn Perkins - Christopher Davis Marco Loud - Peter Gaines - Torrey Robinson - Darius Robinson - Kevin Hicks - Mary Truxillo - Demarcus Semer - Willie Tillman - Terrill Thomas - Sylville Smith - Alton Sterling - Philando Castile - Terence Crutcher - Paul O'Neal - Alteria Woods - Jordan Edwards - Aaron Bailey - Ronell Foster - Stephon Clark - Antwon Rose II - Botham Jean - Pamela Turner - Dominique Clayton - Atatiana Jefferson - Christopher Whitfield - Christopher Mccorvey - Eric Reason - Kionte Spencer - Michael Lorenzo Dean - Trayvon Martin - Breonna Taylor - Ahmaud Arbery - Tony Mcdade - George Floyd”. End id.]
See them. Say them. Don’t forget the lives that were stolen.
This post is the best because you go to any random one of these names and look up the case and it’s like, one stole a gun out of a police officer’s hand and tried to kill the police dog, another stole a car and ran over a police officer, one had a gun and was shooting at police officers, and then another was literally a car accident that had nothing to do with a police interaction but is still listed as a police killing anyway.
But fuck, man, I guess thirty some year old men were once babies and so we need to treat them as children their whole lives and they can never be responsible for their actions.
Agree with this. Like it’s one thing if they were innocent and killed. Then this would be good, but if they actually committed violent crime or something equally as bad, please don’t mourn them like this.
Didn’t George Floyd rob a pregnant lady at gunpoint, or am I thinking of someone else?
Is it really Mormon of you to excuse somebody’s recorded and publicly-shown murder with a crime they committed in the past? You are saying somebody who did time for his crime in 2007 when they were an addict and struggling deserved to die over it now? How about you worry about LDS church reforming/not punishing sexual predators who target children instead??? And not just children, but if I went on a tangent now, I’d never stop. Hypocrite.
And, before anyone goes there, no, I am not targetting Mormons. I support everybody’s rights to a religious freedom. I am calling this particular person out. Nowhere in my post did I attack Mormons as a whole, I just called out a particular Mormon. Know all of those posts that sound like, “Is it very Christian of you?” When somebody does or says something hypocritical. Well, this is it.
The posts before this addition are particularly grating when you realise that:
Armed white men like Dylann Roof (who murdered members of a black church congregation in South Carolina) are alive whilst unarmed black kids like Tamir Rice are not.
The majority of white men who commit mass shootings that die do so by their own hand, not the police’s.
If police can catch people like Roof alive, they can sure as fuck can catch people like Paul O'Neal alive. They just choose not to.
Using a minority of police killing black criminals to dismiss the entire movement, sentiment, etc. is so fucked up and reeks of white people looking to move the conversation on. Breonna Taylor was sleeping. Trayvon Martin had just bought Skittles for his soon-to-be stepbrother. Botham Jean was living in his own apartment. George Floyd wasn’t murdered for a robbery, he was murdered for supposedly using a counterfeit bill.
Black people don’t have to be exceptional to be treated with basic human decency.
here’s a carrd to send pre written emails to ask for justice for several of the victims of police brutality and racism
Heads up, everyone should be writing their letters, it’s easy to set up a filter and send pre-written emails directly to the trash bin or a spam folder, and it’s even more likely to happen with a hostile force like the police.
These articles were posted by the same person less than 2 hours apart
So I looked the guy up and he’s written a public apology.
and the title had been properly adjusted!
Daniel was out on biased reporting that they probably didn’t know was biased because of their privilege, didn’t deny it, didn’t throw a hissey fit, publicly apologized, and almost immediately fixed their mistake
Ok, y'all. I’ve seen the shit commentary, I’ve seen the “lolololol wtf is this why wouldn’t you show your face at protests, don’t you want to put your face out there?”
And THIS IS WHY. Cops are ABSOLUTELY retaliating against protesters for the act of participating in protests. They ARE looking at your social media and using it to trump up charges. They’ve been doing this for… ever.
If you don’t care for yourself, fine. Take that risk yourself. But you don’t get to make that decision for other people. Don’t upload identifiable information about other protesters. This isn’t about “Main Character Syndrome” or whatever ridiculous shit you’ve convinced yourself of, this is happening.
And if someone is actively telling you to put your face out there on the internet and the face of others being at protests, either they’re SUPER naive about the potential consequences of doing so, or they’re not actually on your side. 🤷♂️
Personally, I’m leaning toward “there are a lot of uniformed and naive people out there,” because I don’t think cops are out there acting like jackasses on Tumblr. But like.
Don’t be one of those people. Don’t encourage people to upload images of the faces of protesters or shame people for not wanting images of themselves uploaded.
Don’t.
Also, according to Reddit, police have been trying to edit police brutality out of Wikipedia (both now and previously). If you edit or know someone who does, please share. (Source)
These are the black trans lives we have lost due to violence in the United States since 2009. Sadly, this is most likely not a complete list as many of the souls we have lost go unreported or were misgendered. They will not be forgotten.

All of them should still be here with us today.
Say their names.
I was scrolling down this list and the longer I realized this list was the more tears formed in my eyes.. Say their names ✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿
I can’t help but feel this is one of those things where we had actual documents saying “it was done with this and this”, and some old rich white guys looked at it and went “oh mirth, the ancients were so silly. They probably wrote this basic stuff down and the actual builders had Secret Techniques we need to Discover”
For a long time, archeologists didn’t know how greek women did their high-piled braids and hair. There was a word that translated to “needle” in the descriptions. They went, “seems like we’ll never know.” Then a hairdresser took a fucking needle (big needle) and did the fucking thing you do with needles, which is sew - and by sewing the braids into place, she replicated ancient styles.
The Egyptians had diagrams of construction steps for their pyramids. Archeologists went “oooh, ancient primitive people, how they do this?” LITERALLY MYTHBUSTERS OR THE OLD DISCOVERY CHANNEL or someone went “what if we did the thing the pictures said they did” AND GUESS FUCKING WHAT. GUESS FUCKING WHAT.
Also that thing with native Americans saying squirrels taught them how to get sap for maple syrup, and colonizers going “that’s a myth sweaty”
Sincerely, if the scientists had to do actual analysis like spectroscopy or whatever, kudos, and no flame. But swear to god, if all these years, we’ve had the recipes and there was just this fuckin institutional bias against just TRYING THE THING THEY SAID WOULD WORK, HELLFIRE AND DEMENTIA.
In this case, it was more they had roman writings saying what went into it but figured there was some secret because when they followed roman recipes it never turned out quite right.
Because the sources left by Romans always just said to mix with water. Because, if you were a Roman??? Obviously you knew that you used seawater for cement. Duh. That’s so obvious that they never really bothered specifying that you use seawater to mix it, because it wasn’t necessary, everyone knew that.
But then the empire fell, other empires rose and fell, time passed, and by the time we were trying to reconstruct the formula the ‘mix the dry ingredients with seawater’ trick had been forgotten, until chemical analysis finally figured it out again.
It’s sort of like the land of Punt, a ally of Egypt that’s mentioned all the time, but we don’t actually know where it was located. Because it isn’t written down anywhere. Why would they write it down? It’s Punt. Everyone knew where Punt was back then. It’d be ridiculous to waste the ink and space to specify where it was, every child knows about Punt.
3000 years later and we have no damned clue where it was, simply because at the time it was so blindingly obvious that it was never written down.
So moral of story is be specific
I was thinking it was stupid that they didn’t specify seawater but then I had the thought that we don’t specify to use chicken eggs in baking because DUH so we just write eggs
2000 years in the future people are going to be making scrambled fish eggs and crying bc the ancient recipes make no sense
top table energy: three siblings squabbling over plans, taking it too far, and then hugging it out.
bottom table energy: four friends dressed in all black and wearing sunglasses in their garage, one of whom steps up to a microphone to announce “so yeah, we’re Yasha and the Orphan Makers and this next song’s called Killed My Whole Family (Oops). 1-2-3-4!” followed by the discordant sounds of a bone flute, tiny spirit piano, electric rock harp, and Veth screaming.
